The Los Angeles Dodgers have been dominating Major League Baseball the past six years. They have won 3/6 World Series and have been top contenders throughout all six seasons. Yes there is some controversy on their 2020 title due to the shorten season because of Covid. But since then they have won back to back championships in 2024 and 2025. Now in 2026 can anyone stop LA?
The Dodgers have the best record in the Majors 79 games into the 162 game season. They sit a top the NL west 50-29 with the San Diego Padres 10 games back in second place. The dodgers have played most of the regular seasons without their best pitchers Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, and Edwin Diaz. The Atlanta Braves are their primary challengers. They have a 48-28 record also sitting first in their division with the Philadelphia Phillies six games back. The Dodgers and Braves have been switching places atop the MLB so far this year. They have matched up 3 times so far this season with the Braves taking the series in Los Angeles 2-1. The Phillies could easily go on a run and take the NL East, they have some of the best starting pitching in the league and some big offensive threats. Those three teams are the three I have making the World Series for the National League this year.
What has made the Dodgers so successful over the past two seasons has been depth, outstanding pitching, and clutch batting. Last year we saw Dodgers starting pitching take charge and lead LA to a title. Black Snell and Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched the best baseball of their lives against the Toronto Blue Jays. But we also saw Miguel Rojas hit a bottom of the ninth home run to tie the game up and send us to extra innings.
If you plan on making it to the World Series or winning the trophy you need the bottom of your lineup to majorly contribute. That’s what has made LA so dangerous and I haven’t even mentioned the top 5 players. Kike Hernandez, Miguel Rojas, Tommy Edmond, and even Will Smith and Max Muncy have been huge influences on these titles. Obviously it helps when you have Shohei Ohtani, Freddy Freeman, and Mookie Betts. But even when those players slump the bottom of the order always picked them up and gave them hope.
So what teams look to have similar talent and rosters as the Dodgers that could maybe duplicate their success? The Phillies perfectly fit that narrative. They have absolutely elite starting pitching, huge offensive threats, some great defensive, and a decent bullpen that could be improved at the deadline. Another thing is they have great experience. That team has been through quite a lot together, especially after how last season ended. They definitely need an arm and a bat to add to the roster at the deadline. I think a player that can come in to give them a little depth, can stay reliable, and won’t be a liability on defense could be a game changer for Philadelphia.
The Braves have an amazing team this year. Like I said before they are one of the best teams in the league, they also have a top arm in Chris Sale that can win them a playoff game. The bullpen might be a small question in the long run of the playoffs.
I don’t see any American League teams winning the World Series this year. The Yankees are the same team as last year and the year before that. I’m not even sure if the Blue Jays will make the playoffs. They sit at .500 with a 39-39 record as of now. The AL central is a garbage can, the AL West is a dumpster fire, and it’s crazy to even think about any of the teams in the AL east winning a title. The Rays have had a strong season and I really like them but I doubt their ability to win playoff series in late October.
If the Dodgers make the World Series I don’t see anyone beating them in the AL. The only way the Dodgers get eliminated is by the Braves or Phillies. The Diamondbacks could also eliminate Los Angeles, I say that because the Dodgers can’t beat them if their lives depended on it. But good thing they probably wont make the playoffs.
In conclusion, can anyone stop the Dodgers? Dominating the business and field it seems like a far fetch to say anyone but Los Angeles can win a championship this year and the next couple years. As long as LA stays healthy, they don’t let Tanner Scott pitch, and the sunflower seeds keep flying I’m not sure who will stop the Dodgers. Can a team step up and take down this stacked LA roaster or will October stay blue?
