Earlier today, the first AP Poll dropped as the new College Football season is in full swing. In part one of three articles I will be discussing the teams current status and determining if they were placed right.
#1: OHIO STATE
Ohio State, coming off a rough loss last season in the CFP to Miami is coming back for the Natty. The team is mostly led by their star studded offence, with 2 players who are high up in Heisman talks, Julian Sayin and Jeremiah Smith. Both are easily top 10 at their positions, many argue that Smith is the best WR in the country. And this year they are getting highly valued freshmen Chris Henry JR. Ohio State, right now is easily the best team in the country. Deserved placement.
#2: OREGON
The Ducks are also coming off a bad loss in the CFP, against the eventual champions Indiana Hoosiers. Oregon is STACKED. They had a huge transfer portal, adding players such as Dylan Raiola to the QB room, and Koi Perch to the defence. QB Dante Moore is heading into his last year before he declares for the NFL Draft, and the ducks are hoping it's a big one. In my personal opinion, Dan Lanning is the best coach in the country but he will certainly be tested this year. I do feel that Oregon should have been maybe 1 position lower.
#3: GEORGIA
Kirby Smart's Bulldogs. I didn't keep up with the dawgs this offseaon so I don't know much. Georgia, is coming off 2 straight SEC titles and I believe that they will make it 3 in a row this year. The Dawgs are inevitable. Gunner Stockton and his offence will be scary, I believe that this was the perfect place for the dawgs.
#4: NOTRE DAME
The Fighting Irish are up next, and boy this could get controversial. Notre Dame has arguably one of the easiest schedules in all of the country and they are getting major flak for that. See, last season Notre Dame did not make the CFP so the board said that if they finish top 12 this season, they get an auto bid into the CFP. And if they don't? They just reject a bowl game. Anyways, C.J. Carr leads this team's offence and it is going to look different without J-Love. Marcus Freeman faces lots of pressure this year. I think maybe putting these guys down to 5 would've been better. I guess we will see!
#5: TEXAS
The Longhorns are easily one of the best teams in the country, and their offence shows. Arch Manning getting to throw to Cam Coleman is going to be Cinema this year. This is a big year for the Longhorns, after a disappointing season they are looking to snag Georgia's chain and take the SEC but it is going to be a dog fight.
Well people, that is part one of my thoughts on the AP Poll. Tune in next time.
