CONNELLY EARLY TO NATIONALS

Nationals receive: Connelly Early

Red Sox receive: Curtis Mead

 

While my immediate reaction to this trade was very negative, I've grown to like it a bit more. While Early has elite top-of-the-rotation potential, Curtis Mead looks like a very good hitter. He's also very pull-heavy, something that, for a righty, is perfect for Fenway Park. Of course, Mead getting injured immediately after coming to the Sox is absolutely brutal, but I think he'll turn out well. For the Nationals though, I think Early will be as great as they expect if not better. He is a future superstar in the making, and for a Nationals team that hasn't had a pitcher look great since 2019, aside from maybe MacKenzie Gore and the back end of Strasburg's prime, he could be the next stud in that rotation.

LOGAN O'HOPPE TO RANGERS

Rangers receive: Logan O'Hoppe, Chase Silseth

Angels receive: Angel Arredondo

 

Angels, what in the world are you doing? Logan O'Hoppe is a 26-year-old catcher with very good potential. I don't think he'll ever come close to superstar status, but giving him out for literally a bag of peanuts is absurd. And don't overlook Silseth in this trade. Just take a look at his Baseball Savant page. 93rd percentile in whiff rate. 87th percentile in hard hit rate. 82nd percentile in strikeout percentage. He's got a 2.72 ERA right now. Everything about Silseth points in the direction of him being an at least solid pitcher. And the Rangers only had to give up a minor leaguer that's not even in their top 30 prospects. Absolutely absurd.
