Everton are back for there 124th consecutive season in the English top flight. Though with this success european football has been a premium at the merseyside.

How did last season go? Last season saw the Evertonians finishing 13th in the table, losing in the 2nd round of the EFL Cup, and knocked out by Sunderland in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. Everton didnt win a single game in the last 7 Premier League matches.

Transfers/Squad overview

Merlin Röhl joins from Freiburg the right winger was at loan for Everton last season getting 1 goal in 17 matches (7 started). Rohl has been playing noticeably better in preseason including a goal vs Hamburger SV.

Tyrique George joins from Chelsea for £24m the 20 year old was on loan at Everton, doubt hes gonna get a lot of Premier League starts (1 last year). George showed his potential in the EFL Cup getting 2 goals plus an assist in 3 matches (granted 2/3 were against Lincoln city).

Hayden Hackney joins from Middlesbrough for £24.5m. The midfielder was a standout for Middlesbrough getting 13 goals and assists in 41 matches. A newcomer to Premier League football but was very good with Middlesbrough.

Christian Nørgaard joins from Premier League champions Arsenal for £7 million the midfielder was highlighted for his time at Brentford getting 9 goals in assists in the 2024/2025 Premier League season.

Squad overview:

Defenders: Evertons defense was in the top half last year in goals allowed in the Premier League. Spearheaded by 33 year old James Tarkowski who got 5 goals and assists 37 matches pretty decent for a defender. Michael Keane was also good for Everton with 4 goals and assists last season. Jake O’Brien the likely starting right back was decent for Everton last season noted for his goal against Manchester City in a chaotic 3-3 draw. Vitaliy Mykolenko the starting left-back has been a fairly consistent performer for Everton in his 5 seasons with the club. Overall, its decent practically no changes from last season might decline a little bit.

Midfielders: Kiernan Drewsbury-Hall the attacking midfielder was the leading force with 12 goals and assists in the Premier League. James Garner was also notable getting 10 goals and assists last season as a defensive midfielder. Garner did have a surgery to address his groin issue over the summer but should be fit for Premier League opening day. Tim Iroegbunam was James Garner opposite, Garner a more offensive defensive midfielder while Iroegbunam is very defensive in the role. Everton brought in Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough, was great in the EFL Championship but has yet to see any Premier League experience in his senior career. Charly Alcaraz was a backup attacking midfielder, decent depth piece. New signing Christian Nørgaard joins from Arsenal the defensive midfielder didnt appear in a lot of matches for the gooners, but was pretty decent for Brentford in bis career. Overall, its alright nothing spectacular judt a typical Everton midfield.

Forwards: Everton was in the bottom half in goals scored in the Premier League last season. Thierno Barry as the starting striker doesn’t really convince me at all, 8 gals last year in the Premier League is ok but not spectacular. Iliman Ndiaye was good for Everton with 9 goals and assists, Ndiaye was used as an attacking midfielder. Ndiaye got 3 goals and assists in 3 matches at the World Cup for Senegal which attracted the interests of other clubs but Ndiaye opted to stay at the Merseyside. Dwight McNeil was meh fo Everton last year getting 14 Premier League starts. New signings Tyrique George and Merlin Röhl both appeared in roughly 15 Premier League matches (Röhl 16, George 15).

Overall, its Everton your not gonna get anything flashy im convinced all they do is sit in the Premier League forever and ever and sometimes make a cup run. Nothing is really really good or really really bad the defense is probably the strongest part of this team. Shit could hit the fan with David Moyes in charge but I doubt it. Everton stay up, again.
