Leeds look to improve on their 25/26 Premier league campaign which saw them finishing 14th with 47 points.

How did they do last year? Leeds finished 15th in the Premier League, enjoyed a Wembley appearance the FA Cup Semi-final losing 0-1 to Chelsea, and eliminated in the EFL Cup by checks notes Sheffield Wednesday??? What happened there lads? Dominic Calvert-Lewin was there top scorer with 14 goals.

Incomers:

Tarik Muharemović joins from Serie A club Sassuolo the defender started 3 matches for Bosnia in the world cup and had the 9th most interceptions in Serie A, great signing for Leeds. Also starting 3 world cup matches for Bosnia and doing pretty well in those 3 (£34m).

Harry Wilson joined on a free form Fulham the Wales international had 17 goals and assists in the Premier League last season and hopes to add on to this Leeds attack.

James Trafford joins from Manchester City, Trafford started in all of Citys cup matches and got 7 combined clean sheets in 12 matches. Also a clean sheet in 4 Premier League signings, good signing.

Departures

Pascal Struijk leaves for the south coast at Brighton. The defender who started 34 matches for Leeds in the Premier League hopes to excel at Brighton (£20m).

Isaac Schmidt departs for BSC Young Boys in the Swiss league the midfielder got a goal for Werder Bremen in 1 match started in the German Bundesliga.

Jack Harrison goes stateside with the New England Revolution of the MLS. The Right Winger was loaned out to Fiorentina and got 4 goals and assists in 15 matches started (22 appearances overall).

Squad Overview:

Keeper (s): James Trafford will be the first choice for Leeds, being Manchester Cities first choice for cup competitions, where they both won the FA Cup and EFL Cup. Trafford managed to get 7 clean sheets overall 12 cup matches. Did very well in the Prem to with a clean sheet in 6 matches for the Citizens.

Defenders: Leeds defense was in the bottom half of the Premier League last season and they hope to improve on that. The new signing Tarik Muharemovic will be the one to watch, the Bosnian with loads of potential started 3 matches this summer at the world cup doing fairly decent. Muharemovic hopes to improve on his work at Sassuolo where we got 4 goals and assits in 33 matches. Jaka Bijol the center back was good for Leeds in defense having 224 defensive contributions, also getting 3 goals and assists last season. Gabriel Gudmundsson started 4 matches for Sweden this summer at the World Cup. The left back hopes to improve on a slightly disappointing summer. The speedy Joe Rodon hopes to create chances from the back for Leeds to kickstart the attack. James Justin can be used as a leftback or a center back, Justin got 3 goals and assits in 21 matches started last season. Overall, its an improvement from last season especially with Muharemovic they should improve possibly mid table in goals allowed.

Midfielders:

The midfield was Leeds strongpoint last season anchored by Ethan Ampadu a central midfielder used more of a defensive midfielder with 414 defensive contributions last season. Ampadu won a good majority of his duels last season connecting the attack through the midfield. The Japan international Ao Tanaka appeared in 3 world cup matches this summer being used as a defensive midfielder the same role as he was with leeds, Tanaka is very composed only collecting 13 fouls and 1 yellow all season. Anton Stach the central midfielder got 8 goals and assists last sason, being used as an attacking midfielder or right midfielder depending on the opposition. Brenden Aaronson the American got 9 goals and assists last year in a career year, primarly being used as an attacking midfielder, was in the World Cup squad for the U.S. but was only used in the meaningless match against Turkiye. Aaronson get two goals against Newcaslte potentially the match of the season last year in the Premier League. Jayden Bogle was used as a midfielder in a right wingback role, he got 3 goals and assists last season. Overall, its a solid Prmeier Legaue midfield a part of the reason why Leeds got all the way to the FA Cup semifinals last season.

Forwards: Leeds were decent last year being mid table in goals scored across the Premier League. Dominic Calvert-Lewin was Leeds top scorer last season with 14 goals most notably with a brace against Palace mid season. Harry Wilson joins as a free agent getting 17 goals and assists last year for Fulham. Wilson is likely to be used as an attacking midfielder rather than a right winger. Noah Okafor was used as an attacking midfielder getting 9 goals and assists last season with 19 matches started, Leeds fans will point back to that magical derby win at Old Trafford where Okafor bagged 2 goals to get all three points. Lukas Nmecha was sat behind Dominic- Calvert Lewin making 31 Premier League appearances but only starting 10 matches he did manage 6 goals. Nmecha stood out in the FA Cup getting 3 goals and assists last season in 5 matches. Overall, a very nice attack especially with adding Harry Wilson over the summer, I predict that Leeds will be in the top half of the Premier League in goals scored.

Overall, I really like the singings Leeds have done over the summer to strengthen the squad especially the Muharemovic signing. Harry Wilson is also another great signing for the attack. This ones tricky, I do feel like they have the attack to propel themselves to Europe, but I think they need another defender to secure it. Also one injury on the defensive side and it could go south quickly.

Table Position: 8th, its gonna be a battle for the European spots with Brighton, Brentford, etc potentially down to the final day. If Leeds stay healthy I think they could clinch European football for the first time since 2002-2003.
