The Vancouver Whitecaps FC made it all the way to the MLS Finals only to lose in the hands of the Greatest to Ever do it Lionel Messi Of Miami CF. So what propelled the Whitecaps to the final?
Canadian Championship.
Yes that’s right Canada has there own FA Cup. And who won it? That’s right the Whitecaps against Vancouver FC of the Canadian Premier League. This was their 5th time winning the Voygers trophy.
Thomas Muller?!
That’s right in a thing a call the great unc migration of the 2020s. on August 6th 2025 Thomas Muller the German superstar decide to join the likes of Messi, De Paul, and Suarez to go to North America but unlike those losers who just follow Messi around like baby ducks Muller went North of the border to the great city (if you ignore east Hastings) of Vancouver.
The City and the whole country really was ecstatic a superstar like Muller coming to Canada? The Mayor of Vancouver and the elders of local cost Salish reservations welcomed him with open arms at YVR. And Muller? Well he has given everything back and is now the Captain of the Caps.
The Concacaf champions cup
The Concacaf champions cup is the North American version of the Uefa champions league. And guess what? The caps made it to the final too and we beat Miami to get there but just like in the MLS we lost and we lost big it was 5-0 against Mexican club Cruz Azul It stung for sure but fans knew that this caps team was different and we knew could go all the way…
MLS…
The Caps finished the 2025 MLS season with a record of 18 wins 9 draws and 7 losses. Totalling to a point total of 63 points tied with the freshman team of the MLS San Diego FC for the top of the West. Key players this season was Americas very own Sebastian Berhalter, Our clutch Japanese Goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka, Emanuel Sabbi of the US of A and of course el captain Thomas Muller. All of these players combined to get Vancouver a playoff spot. The Clubs first challenge was FC Dallas in a 2 leg face off and boy is it entertaining the first game in Dallas ended in pens with it being a 1-1 after extra time and 4-2 finish on penalties. Then in Vancouver it was a clean 3-0 victory to advance to the western semi finals against LAFC and more importantly Son Hueng Min
And yes I used that image it’s funny asf
It was a scrappy game with the first goal coming off a big assist by Caps Keeper Takaoka punting one all the way down the pitch Emmanuel Sabbi. To make it 1-0 and then one minute later Mathias Laborda scores to make it 2-0 caps going into the second half. But then enter Son. First scoring a simple goal nothing to crazy. Then in stoppage time when the caps had only 9 players due to a red card and an injury. Son scores a free kick from what seemed a football field lengths away.
extra time was just LAFC pressing in the whitecaps half the whole time but they just could not score even when it was 11v10. so on to penalty's it is. this penalty shootout was summed up by two big misses by LAFC and vancouver taking advantage of those misses. and after what semmed like forever mathis laborda ended a long game with one kick to send vancouver into a craze.
the next game was in the western confrance final aganist the new kids on the block San Diego FC. and this one wasnt as exciting as the last one
it was a 3-1 win for the caps. Thomas Muller was the backbone of the offence sending his strikers and wingers on runs toward goal. the defence also held strong as well.
so who would they be facing in the final, well its Leo Messi or as i like to call him the golden boy and Miami CF.
but sadly the Caps run comes to a end as Messi was the backbone of the offence sending De Paul on runs aswell as other offences threats. the Caps could only Muster one goal from Canadian Ali Ahmed. all in all this season for the caps was a sucess no matter what. more kids in BC want to play soccer and this only got people more excitied for the upcoming FIFA world cup. and now the whitecaps are at the top of the west an look to win the final here we go CAPS
