Not the winner I expected, nor was it a classic, but it was fun!! Chokes happened, the big dawgs under performed, some guy threw a club out of anger, DeChambeau tried to illegally give himself a better lie and was penalized (the traitor deserved it), and we had a big dagger of an 18th for Ryan Fox. Fun time all around!

Certainly not an all timer but a good solid Open and a very deserving winner. Bryson’s antics kind of stole the show all weekend but the course still showed it’s teeth even in relatively benign conditions. Didn’t like Young’s choice to go for it from the sand after the drive on 18. Obviously things would have been different if it really happened but it’s tough not to wonder what would have gone down if he took his medicine and made a par to post -10. Scottie ruling on 17 was ridiculous. We need out of bounds areas enforced within courses. Absolute balls from Fox to birdie the last with how tough it was playing.

Saw two total highlights from this Open Championship: Fox’s iron shot on 18 to seal the deal and Bryson’s little fescue episode. I found the latter to be a nice epitomization of the man himself. A seemingly smart and talented guy who is undone by boneheaded moments that are also not allowed.

Pretty fun tournament. Working later allowed me to watch the start and end of most of the rounds so I would catch a lot of different golf but overall the play was very fun. Fox played great the whole tournament and deserved to win for sure. This major season saw a lot of play that was almost wins from the top golfers. Other then the Masters we had a lot of champs who had either never won (Fox and Rai) or had not won in a while (Clark). Good for golf to have more faces and grow but just kinda boring to the average fan after the last couple of years of top end players going head to head for majors everytime. I also think the controversies of this tournament were kinda taking away from the golf. I am a fan of Bryson and really enjoy watching his golf but this weekend really left a sour taste in my mouth for him. The penalty was fair he took it like a baby! Scottie also on the final day should have not had relief on 17. Great tournament with some rather tough things to over look in ratings
