UFC 328: Chimaev vs. Strickland

Greatest card you’ll ever see to not have a KO. The two title fights came down to the last round! Van showed the heart of a champion and picked apart taira with the unbelievable boxing. And Strickland did an unbelievable job all 5 rounds to scrape away this win. For me Stricklands round 3 performance made the difference. We need a rematch between these 2 in a few months. Credit to Chimaev for fighting on the feet, and when he was on the ground he went for much more submissions and ground pound compared to the DDP fight. Finally seeing the relationship evolve over this week and especially tonight was beautiful to watch from the pre fight tension to the display of sportsmanship post fight. Really didn’t think either guy was capable of that this morning.

100% agree with that round 2 and 3 assessment for Strickland. Chimaev has never had someone so easily stop his plan and he had no way to easily adjust. It was almost shocking to see someone so seamlessly go and defend the takedown of a guy who tossed his other title opponent so easily when he fought DDP.
