Super Bowl XLII Halftime Show

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers delivered a straightforward crowd pleasing halftime set opening with “American Girl” and following with “I Won’t Back Down,” “Free Fallin’” and “Runnin’ Down a Dream.” A mere 4 years removed from the nip slip seen round the World, the NFL was very much in its safe and secure era with half time acts so Tom delivered as promised. The show was solid and simple with no gimmicks. A perfect example of an artist who was told to “play the hits” and did exactly that.
