They made it a one score game with 2:35 left. But ULM held on. How this game affected college football history: While ULM won this game, and the next, neither were very convincing. They then struggled the rest of the season, losing their final 8 games. One of those was a 42-7 loss to Northwestern. Northwestern then used that momentum from beating ULM to pull off a shocking upset over Penn State. But what if ULM had convincingly won this game without a late game collapse? Maybe they take that momentum into Northwestern, beat them, and then Northwestern loses to Penn State. Then maybe Penn State's only loss is to Oregon. They go 11-1.
