I was very optimistic for this game after that 1st quarter. I didn’t think this would be a shootout, but maybe these teams could go back and forth and keep it close. Then the 2nd quarter and a reversed fumble return TD was the only reason Miami (OH) wasn’t losing by more than 10. Buckley’s 64 yard TD less than 2 minutes into the 2nd half didn’t help Miami. Maybe I’m being pessimistic and unfair, but I really expected Miami to put up more of a fight. Western Michigan was held in check and threw away free points to fake a field goal and fail a 4th and goal. Miami just couldn’t do a thing, that last drive was pitiful and real personified Miami’s effort after the 1st quarter imo. Western Michigan (WM) wins their first MAC championship since 2016. They also break up a bizarre streak. This is WM’s first conference championship in an odd numbered year since 1929 when they won the Michigan Collegiate Conference. The MAC has been brought back to Kalamazoo.
