The age of ‘BCS busters’ has long-passed. With all the talk about who should be playing Oregon, all I could think was ‘prove they don’t deserve to be here’ and Oregon did exactly that. JMU looked good on their first drive and sloppy and helpless the rest of the game as the Ducks flew and quacked their way to an easy victory and a chance at redemption in the CFP quarter final. JMU got killed by penalties early, but there’s no argument that was the only reason they lost. Malik Benson, a few weeks after he had his first 100-yard game, had an even better performance with 119 yards and 2 TDs. Besides the 2 interceptions, Moore was dialled in. Surprisingly, no turnovers for Oregon’s defense. But who needs a turnover when you hold an offense to just 6 points through 2 quarters. JMU finally showed life in the 2nd half, but at that point, it was far too late. I want to give JMU a ton of credit for fighting despite the odds (and they do deserve some), but it’s hard to ignore that 1st half.
