What a wild game! It was already great that North Texas’ big three were playing and it looked like the Mean Green were going to blow out the Aztecs, but San Diego State didn’t quit! They somehow made this a game and even though North Texas held on, this was an amazing performance by the San Diego State third string QB!

If San Diego State managed to tie it up, this game would’ve gotten an easy 9 and gone down as an all-time bowl game. Nearly a total disaster for North Texas, but they hung on for dear life. It looked like this would be a high scoring blowout but the Aztecs executed a controlled demolition in the 4th quarter. Bert Emmanuel came in as a QB but basically played running back as he ran for nearly 200 yards and 2 touchdowns while throwing a few passes just for shits and giggles I imagine. Christian Washington and Lucky Sutton also contributed with many rushing yards of their own. Kyle Crum had a tough day throwing the ball so he made up for it by running for a couple TDs of his own. They sadly couldn’t overcome the deficit they put themselves in. By deficit, I mean letting North Texas have, not one, but TWO 150+ yard rushers and Mestemaker’s arm wasn’t too shabby. This was the perfect game if you love offense and hate good run defense.
