Ever since the idea for RateGame was just a laughably bad mockup on google slides I've had this one on my pantheon of great games in sports history. When you look at this game through the historical lens and consider the magnitude of the stakes; if LeBron loses this and never delivers on his promise to Cleveland his entire legacy is altered. A loss here would have dropped his championship count to two and left him with a dismal Finals record (2-5) at the time. It would have validated criticisms of his player-empowerment "super team" moves and potentially knocked him outside the top 5 all-time. On the other side, the Warriors would surely never pursue Durant out in the Hamptons that fateful July 4th weekend, etc etc. Then there's the game itself; I've never felt the nerves and anxiety of every single play the way I did with this one. I've never been shy about my adoration of The King, in 2016 his was the only semblance of winning I ever knew. Put it on my tombstone: BLOCKED BY JAMES

Surprised it took so long. Of course this game is a 10, but, I would argue it’s not obvious. This game was more of a slugfest than you probably remember. The highest scoring player in this game was Draymond Green who tied the NBA Finals record for most 3s in a game 7. Prior to the moments that make this game legendary, the best thing this game had going for it was closeness. Through 3 and a half quarters, the largest lead either team had was 7 points. It was anyone’s game, but to be honest, I couldn’t tell you much about what happened in those 42 minutes. The main thing I remember is Curry’s infamous behind the back pass that gave him a turnover. Still, with all that being said, we all remember those last 6 minutes Warriors go up 4, LeBron scores 6 straight points, Klay ties it up and then after a few minutes of no buckets, we got 2 of the most iconic moments in sport history. The Block and Kyrie’s shot. Those 2 plays completed the greatest comeback in NBA history. I’ll never forget.

Would rate this a 20 if I could. I hated this Warriors team almost as much as I hate Nico Harrison I'm so serious.

The most obvious 10 of all time. Fred Mcleod’s call still gives me chills a decade later. "GOODNIGHT OAKLAND!"

It's wild to me that LeBron and Kyrie had a falling out after achieving something so impossible. Game 5 when they each had 41 was one of the coolest things ever. LeBron still doin it btw!

10 next question... To be real though this is in my opinion my favorite sports event ever. It was the first time in my life I made the choice that I had to watch this game. I sat down in my living room while my grandparents were over for family dinner and watched some of the highest tier of basketball I've ever seen in my life. At the time I was a HUGE Steph Curry fan (like most tween boys at the time) I found his game to be so awesome and he was the coolest player to watch. To watch this game and specifically the blocked by James moment seriously changed me as a person. That moment has the power to trancend sports. If I mention "Blocked by James" or show you a black and white image you know what it is. Kyrie with the crazy step back to ice the game. What means so much more now is Lebrons post game. "Cleveland this is for you" after coming back and doing it for the Ohio team... the city with such little success in its history. Truly an iconic game in the history of sports.

"Iguodala to Curry, back to Iguodala, up for the layup! Oh! Blocked by James! LeBron James with the rejection!" Sometimes I go back and watch the final moments of this game on YouTube when it was tied at 89. 10 years ago when my mom was watching this game live she was proud of Lebron and what he did for Cleveland.

Like the man said himself; this one was for Cleveland. LeBron levels up his legacy in this game and Kevin Love gives an iconic bear hug.

I was shocked this wasn't added three weeks ago when the NBA finals started. But the RateGame team had shifted to the World Cup already. This was definitely the worst moment of my life other than maybe FSU being left out of playoffs in 2023. We had the greatest regular season of all time at 73-9 and then in game 1 of the first round Steph gets injured and went on to miss 6 of the next 7 games and played through the injury the rest of the playoffs. Somehow despite that we came back from 3-1 against OKC and took a 3-1 lead in this series. But Draymond got suspended for game 5 and the momentum shifted to Cleveland. They won the next two games in blowout fashion to force a game 7. In the last 4 minutes of game 7 both teams kept putting up bricks including LeBron's block on Iguodala, and then Kyrie Irving cements the dagger with the game winning three. And our dream season was over and we became the first team to blow a 3-1 finals lead. CLEVELAND, THIS IS FOR YOU 🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕
