Even without Wembanyama, the Spurs punch their ticket to the NBA Cup semi-final and the honour of being the Thunder’s next victim. In all seriousness, this game was alright, had some cool moments. LeBron with the throwback poster on Kornet and De’Aaron Fox cooking Austin Reeves repeatedly was fun to watch. But the Spurs had a handle on the Lakers most of the way. Credit to the Lakers, they had their runs, brought the deficit down to single digits multiple times. They just couldn’t close the distance as the Spurs would generate some offense and put the Lakers back in square one. Usually thanks to Stephon Castle who had a crazy efficient game. Despite what I said before, I really hope we get Wembanyama back for the semis in Vegas. It’ll truly be a David vs. Goliath matchup, except David is an alien. Luka did typical Luka shit and LeBron can still be productive in his old age, but Reeves took too long to get going and the Spurs got a complete team effort.
