There have been two games in the Women's National Basketball Association that have ended in quadruple overtime. The first game was won by the Washington Mystics against the Seattle Storm in a baffingly low 72-69 final score. The second game was won by the Washington Mystics against the Portland Fire. It was a tough effort by the Mystics, especially when the game was so long that a whole game (Aces vs. Sky) started and ended in the same timeframe, but everyone did their part against a crazy determined Portland team. One team had to lose.

GAME OF THE SEASON
WELCOME TO LEITE TOWN (POPULATION: THE WASHINGTON MYSTICS)
WHAT A GAME BY CARLA LEITE. FROM THE BUZZER BEATER TO TIE THE GAME IN REGULATION, TO THE GAME TYING 3 TO TIE THE GAME AGAIN IN 1OT. The game slowed down HEAVILY in the second overtime, with 8 points being scored in that window.
Third overtime came and went and STILL the game wasn’t decided.
4th overtime was a SLUG FEST, as NOBODY was scoring (atleast up until the 2 minute mark). Bridget Carleton, Kiki Iriafen, and Megan Gustafson fouled out in the fourth, which was a HUGE blow to both teams (especially Portland, as it was their 2nd and 3rd player to foul out)
FINALLY the game ended on a missed Carla Leite layup

Historic game made possible by a Leite I-didn’t-mean-to-bank-it-in three to send it into overtime. Fun to watch both teams just answer the other’s baskets. Leite had a great game, but couldn’t get the game-winner. Citron, Onyenwere and Iriafen came up big for the Mystics. I was really hoping for a fifth OT, but when Leite missed that second free throw, I knew it wasn’t going to happen.
