The Tempo were rolling with a 16-point lead in the fourth. Then New York stepped up their game and tied it late. We had a flying shoe and ejection. Toronto made just enough plays at the end to hold on and win. Marina Mabrey was clutch again and had 30 points. This game definitely got chippy in the final minutes and the Montréal crowd loved every minute of it. A little boring since the Tempo had their way most of the game, but the Liberty made in interesting at the end.

That could’ve and should’ve been easier, but they got the job done, can’t complain about that. Toronto dictated the tempo for most of this game. It started in the 1st quarter, led by, who else, Marina Mabrey. She was on fire and Montreal was rocking. Liberty tried pushing us around so we pushed back and the Bell Centre sounded nearly as loud as a Habs game. It was awesome stuff. Although the Tempo had firm control through 3 quarters, it was a good time. Then the 4th happened. They really tried to blow this game down the stretch. Despite having a 16-point lead going into the final quarter, the New York Liberty chipped away at it and made it a close game in the final few minutes. It got whacky after that. Laney- Hamilton got tossed for throwing a shoe at Mabrey and Mabrey may have gotten the same had Sabrina not stopped her (thanks Sabrina, really appreciate that). Thankfully Mabrey stayed in the game and we won thanks to a last minute layup. Whacky and fun for sure, just at the end.
