A classic back and forth affair that felt like a throwback with all the scraps and how chippy it was in general. Not a bad thing, if anything, it was fun to watch as a neutral. The dynamic duo of Trevor Zegras and Christian Dvorak both looked great, especially Zegras who got a couple goals, one with his skill and the other with pure persistence. They had to overcome the rookie Islanders defenseman… Marshall Warren. Did you expect me to say someone else? In all seriousness, Warren was a great story. In his first ever NHL game, he gets 2 assists and nearly scores while getting the 2nd one. But Warren wasn’t the only feel good story, Ersson had a great bounce back performance after a straight up bad start to his season and eventually made the game winning save in the shootout. I have to admit the shootout really took away from this game, still, I enjoyed it.
