We had a barn burner in Raleigh North Carolina with a 1st period perfect for the weirdos that hate good goaltending. Frederik Andersen had a save percentage of .250 for a bit. After 1 period it was 3-2 for the Canes and it only took a minute in the 2nd to make it 4-3. That burning has multiple meanings though as we had a combined 45 penalty minutes in the 1st, including a match penalty for Pitlick after a gnarly hit. Insane. This was clearly unsustainable, and by that, I mean there was no way the Wild were gonna keep up and match the Canes offensive pressure and shot total. Fortunately, Gustavsson clearly knew this too as he locked in and kept the Wild within striking distance despite all the pressure from the Hurricanes, sad news for the weirdos I mentioned before. Wild made more of a push in the first but a combination of Andersen saves and clutch Hurricanes defense saved the lead. Last minutes were very hectic, but I will mainly remember this game for that chaotic first period.
