Going into this game, both these teams were middle of the pack to below average in goals per game while starting two of the very best goalies in the NHL. So of course the first period was a fast paced goal fest that nearly got both goalies pulled, just like we all expected. Sadly Demko was pulled, but for injury reasons which admittedly hurts this rating a bit. The Jets stuck with Hellebuyck and it paid off as he nearly shut out the Canucks in the rest of the game. Josh Morissey continues to be incredible and doing his best to put him in the ‘top D-man not named Cale Makar’ discussions alongside Werenski and Quinn Hughes. Speaking of Quinn, he was also incredible as always, he had a brief injury scare and thankfully came back to be a constant threat. Something about watching fast puck moving defensemen is so entertaining, I love that about the modern NHL.
