Don’t let the score fool you, it only looks this way thanks to two empty netters. That doesn’t mean the Avs didn’t have the edge, they had multiple as a matter of fact. The most pleasantly surprising was Scott Wedgewood putting on a brilliant performance, which shouldn’t be that surprising anyway considering he’s been rock solid all season. I only call it surprising because Cale Makar brilliance is always expected.

I was hoping the islanders would tie it late, but unfortunately they did not, Scott Wedgwood played amazing, Ilya Sorokin didn’t play bad either, Sorkin had an incredible save of the year candidate on Ross Colton, after Nelson was alone and had a scoring chance the puck bounced back to Ross Colton who had the whole net open, but Sorkin threw himself back and stopped it with his glove or arm. But to be fair Colton did score before that so… a rare game where the avs pot 4 but Mackinnon doesn’t get a single point. Victor Olafson had a nice tip in the slot for the game winner and Brett Burns got his 2nd of the year. This one was closer than the score suggested
