This game was fine, not bad, not great, just alright. Rather than being back-and-forth, this game had phases. Period 1 was the hot start phase where the Flames pounced early and held off Buffalo to remain up 2-0. Then Buffalo put a ton of pressure on the Flames and clawed back. Only for that effort to be pointless when the Flames capitalized on their chances in the 3rd. Tight if you look at the stats, but it shifted wildly in the moment. This game was also great for Ras’s trade value. Back-to-back nights with a Ras goal and stare. Cooley played well, even with a ludicrous goaltender interference call that helped him. I really need the Flames to trust Cooley more. He’s not Wolf, but he passes the eye test and his stats prove he deserves more starts. If for nothing else, don’t burn Wolf into the ground. Huska, please don’t burn Wolf out. You have a good #2 goalie, use him.

I’m glad the game got close and the Sabres tired it to make it interesting… just for the flames to run away with it in the 3rd period, Devin Cooley first win of the year and look great and has been all year, I had my doubts about him, but he’s doing solid as a backup through 4 games. Rasmus Andersson looked good, that stare down was so cool when he first did it last year, but now it’s kinda lost its aura a little. Joel Farabee had 2 goals. Mattias Samuelsson look good he had a goal and assist.
