yeah this sucked. Didn't appear in the first, couldn't get the momentum in the second, lost it in the third. There was a moment at the beginning of the game where I was explaining to a woman next to me that the best lead in a hockey game is 3 - 0. Just wish I didn't get to see that live. Skinner was rough, he missed a few he needed to get and was left out to dry. Pickard didn't do much better. The idea that our goalies will bail us out is laughable, we need to be better in the front and the back. 8 games in 12 days, the boys are gassed. We need to rest up and come back with a vengeance. I will not give up on Skinner, the oilers fanbase have a history of running goaltenders out of town. We need to be better, as a team and as fans. I would kill for a big mary right about now.

This one sucked, especially on hockey fights cancer night in Edmonton for there first home game in a long time, I’m glad they didn’t get shut out, at least those kids had something cheer for. The jets had there hockey fights cancer again the wild and then they got shut out, so at least that didn’t happen to Edmonton. The oilers best player all night was Connor Clattenburg, he scored his first NHL goal and was throwing the body even right until the end and was one of the few oilers who were a plus 1. Wyatt Johnston had an absolute insane game with 4 points, good for Jamie Benn I guess for scoring his 400th career goal, Roberson continues his goal streak. Nathan Bastian almost had a hatrick but he scored his, would’ve been 2nd goal with a high stick.

They could’ve ended this game after the 1st period, pathetic all-around from the Oilers. Don’t forget, no Rantanen and Harley. At least the crowd got to see some Oilers goals and a bit of momentum after watching that travesty. Speaking of travesty, it appears Stuart Skinner only has voodoo on his side against the Stars in the playoffs. Skinner’s career saving percentage vs the Stars in the regular season .876 (doesn’t include the .500 tonight) with only 1 game above .900. In the playoffs, it is .923 with just 2 games below .900. Very strange, but Skinner was far from the only issue. Not like Pickard was much better, but to be fair to him, the Oilers were basically finished when he came in. The defense gave them no help, especially in that brutal 1st period. As for the Stars, take your pick for who has the best day. I’ll pick Bastian, coming in for Rantanen and potting 2 goals, his first since October 11th. Although I’m still a member of the Heiskanen fan club.
