Will Team Canada/Doug Armstrong pay attention to Logan Thompson now?! The Islanders peppered the Canadian goalie all game long and the win was never in doubt. He was terrific, even when the Capitals basically flat lined in the 3rd period, only allowing a single goal. If not for a bad giveaway from Sorokin, the 3rd could’ve been very dicey. Tom Wilson of all people got both goals while taking advantage of fortunate bounces and bad mistakes. Meanwhile, the Islanders had to be fuming. They could only score when Horvat basically snuck into a mad scramble like it was Skyrim and he had 100 sneak. Didn’t matter anyway as Thompson shut the door and the Capitals would get 2 empty netters, including one from Ovechkin who put the 6th cherry on top of his goal record. Sorokin was weirdly off. I don’t even want to say bad, but that giveaway doesn’t help my case. To be fair, doesn’t matter when your team can’t score.
