I am an ardent defender of 0-0 games and how they can be AWESOME. Unfortunately, this is not a great example. The shots on goal may make you think this was slow and bland, but even throughout. While it did certainly lack in shots on goal, especially considering this game involved the kings of pepper from Raleigh, the shot attempts heavily weighed in Carolina’s favour. Just look at the blocked shots. Half of Calgary’s lineup had multiple blocked shots and almost every single Flame had at least 1. On one hand, this is quite the monumental defensive effort from the Flames and Devin Cooley. On the other hand, I wish there had been more actions from the goalies. In the end, Carolina finally broke through despite Devin Cooley nearly having a miraculous save. Ehlers finally broke the deadlock. Call me biased, but Cooley had the tougher task and he continues to excel in this goaltending tandem. Flames have many issues, goaltending is not one of them.
Edit: I have decided I was a bit too harsh.
