Tarasov and the penalty kill steal this game for the Panthers. Even though the shot totals were quite even, watching the game gave me the opposite vibe. The highest draft pick in Flames history, Sam Bennett and his slick deflected goal was the difference maker on the scoreboard, but the Panthers weren’t getting many great chances beyond tips. As a matter of fact, it felt like LA had 0 shots from the middle. No shots in the slot nor shots from the middle of the blue line. Meanwhile LA was pestering Tarasov all night long and he was rock solid, especially in that last LA power play. Which brings me to the next topic, the penalty kill. Ironically enough, the Panthers actually gave up a power play goal on their first kill. After that tho, they were nearly infallible, especially on that final penalty kill, right when it looked like LA could’ve tied it, they completely shut the Kings now. Sam Bennett set the tone with his physical play and it paid off.
