The Quinn Hughes-Ewing-theory run is over. Despite the lopsided score and shot totals, I enjoyed this one. The first two periods were my new favourite game show. ‘Will Thatcher Demko save the Canucks from themselves?’. It turned out Thatcher Demko couldn’t save the Canucks from their fate forever. Though he did try his damndest to keep the winning streak alive, it wasn’t enough. After 35 minutes of the Flyers controlling play and getting so many great chances on Demko, they finally broke through with a tip in. Then, in the 3rd, the Flyers completely took over. Not only outshooting the Canucks but scoring too. They had some nice goals too, culminating in Owen Tippet’s nasty goal on the break where he just glided by every Canuck on the ice. The Canucks didn’t fully go away but the Flyers comfortably put any comeback attempts to bed. Demko’s stats are lying, he was the only reason the game was so close for so long. Vladar was pretty good too, but it was a total team effort on both sides.
