I mean that was pretty dominant from the oilers, Draisaitl and Mcdavid are world-class this past month, and they look unstoppable. Nugent-Hopkins looks like he’s having a bounce back year, and the team is getting healthier. Connor Ingram has looked really solid, I’m glad they’re giving him some starts here. A solid fight between Frederic and bahl, and some rough stuff at the end was great. Flames just didn’t have an answer defensively for the speed of Edmonton, and got into some penalty trouble. I really liked the play of max jones tonight, he’s physical and great on the forecheck, led to some high danger chances, but dustin wolf made some good saves, man is he flexible. I’d like to see max jones stay in the lineup, but it will be difficult once kapanen comes back, maybe they need to move on from tomesek. Oilers are now tied for 1st in a weaker pacific division, but so proud of them for going 8-3-1 in December.

Battle of Alberta, always excited for these matchups. However, to be completely honest. I kinda saw this coming. I went into this game thinking it was gonna be a blowout in one way or another, turned out it was in favour of the Oilers. Dustin Wolf tried his best, but even he couldn’t save us. I’m just shrugging my shoulders, accepting the tank and enjoying the festivities/scrums. I greatly appreciate that even when our teams are at polar opposite spots in the NHL, the Battle of Alberta maintains its tension. With that being said, this game sucked. Sorry, gotta call it like I see it. Oilers earned the win but the Flames kept taking bad penalties, culminating with Weegar’s misconduct, and the Oilers power play abused us. Simple as that. No Flame had a great game besides Wolf. Meanwhile the Oilers had a great night. Only other thing I can say is: thanks for beating the Golden Knights, see ya after Christmas.

Always fun watching these two teams competing with an intense rivalry. What was Calgary supposed to do when McDavid was on a mission. 5 points tonight, passing McKinnon by 5 points now. This guy is nasty. Hopefully the Oilers will go far this year and win it because Draisaitl and McDavid really deserve it. The crowd was buzzing tonight.
