Good night for Flames fans. Just before this, Cole Reschny and Zayne Parekh helped Canada avoid another collapse against Latvia with a point each while foreshadowing their future as Gavin McKenna’s teammates. Then, late at night, the Flames make up for getting railed in the Battle of Alberta before Christmas, by winning the battle after Christmas. This game started with a great 1st period with some fast paced back and forth hockey but slowed down as the game went on, likely by design for the Flames and yet it got hella dramatic at the end. Dustin Wolf was obviously terrific, holding it down under an Oilers assault with a bit of help from his posts and crossbar. Sharky gets another goal, Lomberg continued his heater and the Coleman-Backlund chemistry remains unparalleled. However, I need to shoutout Adam Klapka. He may not have scored but he had a heck of a game full of pissing off Oilers players and playing a key role in each Flames goal. The big guy deserves some love.
