A pretty good tight game, but a slow chippy one. A bit of a reunion with some former Flames tonight. Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov return to the Saddledome for them just the 2nd and 3rd time respectively since the Flames traded them away. I would be lying if I said seeing them didn’t bring back memories of the last time the Flames were elite (never forget the best line in the 21st century). Beecher also plays his former team since the Flames claimed him on waivers. So of course nobody I just named had a big impact on this game. Instead, this was a goalie duel between an Alaskan and a Californian. Swayman and Wolf were terrific, although neither had to deal with many shots, let alone consistent sustained pressure. We got overtime because of this and it was really good, even with it just being a Flames powerplay. Despite all that, my favourite part was Kelly Hrudey (Flames’ colour commentator) skewering Eric Francis on National TV two separate times! Francis deserved it btw.
