Strangely enough, despite Kane not being on the Hawks for a few years now, this was the first game Patrick Kane and Jonathon Toews have played against each other in the NHL. With that storyline in mind, a goaltender fittingly saved the day and will likely have his contributions go underrated as people focus on Toews and Kane, but I know how crucial you were Corey Crawford… I mean John Gibson. In all seriousness, this was a tight game that devolved into a one-sided affair in favour of Winnipeg. John Gibson’s play was crucial to Detroit hanging on for the win. Kane was kept quiet but Toews contributed with a primary assist on the only Jets goal. Aside from those 2, I was really impressed by Morissey, as I always am. But I also thought JT Compher played really well. Not only assisting one of the goals but playing some solid defensive shifts. Seider also chipped in with his fair share of blocked shots. Despite that, Gibson deserves any flowers he gets tonight.
