The Capitals and Senators kick off the new year with an afternoon game and fortunately for people like me who aren’t hungover and need sports to keep me company, this was a good game. Caps took the lead early off a scrappy goal from Team Canada member (and good selection) Tom Wilson and a slick goal from Dylan Strome. I certainly thought the Senators were gonna lose and maybe get crushed. But they refused to follow the script I was writing. Nick Jensen got the crowd going with a goal as the Senators grabbed momentum both before the goal and especially after when Ridkey Greig tied it up. Perron grabbed the lead for Ottawa but Washington was kind enough to add even more drama, so Protas scored just so Zetterlund could grab the lead back in the final 3 minutes. Capitals made one final push, but they couldn’t get it and the Senators get a well-deserved win. Chabot and Zetterlund rightfully earned stars of the game, but I was most impressed by Pinto with his passing and it got him 2 assists

The caps are kinda in a slump, we are 3-8 in our last 11 games. I don’t really know what the problem is but I trust the team and staff to figure it out. This was a fun game Thompson let one in late but that’s not his fault. The Sens had good movement throughout the game. When we pulled Logan we got chances we just could not finish some on the shots. Good game I think we will bounce back soon.

Capitals had a very strong start, jumping out 2-0 in the first period with a goal from Wilson and Strome. Sourdif continues to look confident as he had 2 assists and got into a fight. Unfortunately they got sloppy late which ended up being a frustrating loss in which they definitely could have won.

in the process of watching this game i gave up on it after the first and moved it to the second monitor, then turned it back to my main focus after the second, and the back and forth third made the game 10 times better.
nobody in the league celebrates goals as high energy as fabian zetterlund and nobody sighed louder today than the collective sens fanbase.
maybe i do have some hope left
