The Sky win a very entertaining battle of very bad teams! This game did not look like it was going to be good however until the fourth quarter. Other than the first quarter starting close, Chicago was resoundingly better in every aspect and the score showed it! The Sky had a humongous lead that maxed out at 21 points in the middle of the third quarter, but the Storm would make this a game! They brought this game very close and the final three minutes of this game were awesome blow for blow action, but Chicago was barely able to hold them off! The Sky survive what could’ve been a horrible loss!

That last minute felt like it was a quarter on its own. Once again Seattle was down gig (21 points) and game back to make it a game. I can’t imagine that was the look they wanted with their last possession. The Sky won this one on the boards and at the free throw one. They out rebounded the Storm 47-34. That makes a difference in a close game. The Sky did a great job on Malonga. She may have scored 19, but she shot 5-14. Cardoso had 22 points and 12 rebounds. If Seattle could avoid a slow start, they might win a few more games.

Often, when basketball games involve two bad teams gives us bad basketball. I thought it would be no different here with the Sky, who are bad, and the Storm, who are competing with the Sun to be the very worst team in the W this season. However, sometimes, two bad teams are so evenly matched that it makes for a good game. That is exactly what we got here. Despite the fact that Chicago should’ve ran away with this game after the first quarter. They had over double Seattle’s points. Yet the Storm refused to go quietly into the night. Even when the Sky took a 12-point lead in the 4th quarter, the Storm kept brewing. Seattle came tantalizingly close to tying up the game or even stealing it at the 11th hour, only to come up short in the end. It made for some excellent drama. While all that is true, it is also relevant that the last bucket was scored with almost two minutes remaining. This was very much a free throw battle down the stretch which hurts the entertainment factor. Still great.

I’m shocked the Sky didn’t blow this game. Always great to win in the WNBA even when playing the worst team.

Sky were up 21 in the 3rd and somehow only ended up winning by 2. Seattle were knocking on the door at the end, but the Sky hang on thanks to 22 and 12 from Cardoso
