So it WAS 3-1. WHAT THE HELL IS THIS TEAM DOING? GOD DAMN CAN'T HOLD A 2 GOAL LEAD MAYBE THAT'S NORMAL BUT THEN ALLOWING 5 MORE GOALS!!!?!?!?!?! I HOPE EVERY ON THIS 2025-26 ISLANDERS DEFENSE BURNS IN HELL LIKE YHEY DESERVE TO MY GOD. I UNDERSTAND WHY WE DIDN'T MAKE THE PLAYOFFS NOW.

Ilya Sorokin and Matthew Schaefer can only do so much. Especially when they’re facing a returning Crosby and vindicated Kyle Dubas. Dubas obviously wasn’t on the ice, but his acquisitions played like they were giving glares to a certain blue team that fired the Pens’ GM. This game was mostly even in the first period. As the game progressed, it leaned more and more in Pittsburgh’s favour. Not before the Islanders struck first. Anders Lee and Barzal put the Islanders up 2-0 and the Penguins proceeded to put them in their place like the bitter feelings from the 2021 playoffs linger. Soderblom and Mantha took special interest in that as they cooked Long Island. When the Penguins scored their 4th goal and the period ended 4-3, it wasn’t completely hopeless. Luckily the Penguins made sure to snatch that last bit of hope with 3 goals in the 3rd to seal up a blowout victory. Crosby played a small role in this game, but it’s still great to see him back. Hopefully he gets to 100% soon.

What a comeback. I was watching for a little and it was 3-1 for the Islanders. I came back a little later and it was 4-3 Pittsburgh. From then on, it was a total collapse for New York. They did the same thing against Montreal. They seem to be a strong team at the beginning of games but can't hold tight towards the end. Patrick Roy is gonna have to make adjustments if the isles want to be ready for the playoffs.
