Probably not a surprising result, despite how good the Sens have been recently, but they catch a lucky break thanks to the Red Wings screwing the pooch. Speaking of Detroit, this game initially looks eerily similar to the game that Detroit just played. Senators went down 4-0 before scoring a goal near the very end of the 3rd to break up a shutout. However, I think this game is a great case study in how games with the same score can play out very differently. First, there is no interesting storyline here. Wallstedt was great, but he’s been great most of the season and there was no significant milestone or first to grab your attention..The Wild are a much better team than the Sens, so, although it is a missed opportunity, it was going to be hard to take advantage anyway. Next, the actual play. The play was actually mostly tight. It was low-event because of that, but I wouldn’t say either team truly dominated until the 3rd when Minnesota coasted to victory. This game was just mediocre.
