Top fan take from @FlameRaptorRaven: “It is rare that 1 player beats a team almost on their own. Robert Thomas did just that against arguably the best team in the NHL with his first career hat trick. Perhaps saying he did it completely on his own is unfair. Rookie Jimmy Snuggerud, one of the few bright spots for a wasted season in St. Louis, provided an assist on each of Thomas’s goal. Thomas was the finisher, but Snuggerud set him up each time. That being said, I wouldn’t be saying this if the Avalanche just laid down and died. They fought and fought hard. It looked like Colton had opened the scoring only for it to be called back. Thomas thanked the officials for that call with a goal off a crazy sequence. Kelly restored order and Burns gave the Avs the lead shortly into the 2nd only for Thomas to tie it back up thanks to a slick Snuggerud feed. Both teams had their chances with Colorado getting the best ones. Thomas found the winner thanks to a nasty dangle and pass from Snuggerud to find Thomas for a tip-in.”
