I spent almost 12 hours packing boxes and moving to a new place. I could’ve gone to bed. I was certainly tired enough. But no, I had a better idea. ‘My Tempo are playing,’ I thought it myself. ‘This will be a great way to decompress from a long day’, I also thought. So I sat down in front of my laptop, grabbed a Coke Zero and decided to root for the Toronto Tempo. BIG MISTAKE!
Now, I will acknowledge that I didn’t expect us to win. I missed the news that Mabrey was going to miss this game (I missed her dearly) so that was a bummer. But still, a win isn’t all that matters at this point. Maybe Kiki can have a breakout performance. Maybe the game has a crazy ending. Maybe someone will have a career night or season-best game. NONE OF THAT HAPPENED. Instead all I got was pain and misery as the Mercury crushed us in every quarter until the 4th when they showed mercy on us and let us make the score slightly less humiliating.
The only good parts were Kiki’s heart and Harrison’s double-double

I thought the last Tempo game was a huge blowout loss, but wow! It was on its way to a normal blowout for the first half where the Mecury had a good sized lead. Phoenix found a couple new levels after that though. They had an unfathomably big lead by the start fourth quarter, and they finally slowed down after that. Toronto was so incredibly bad in the second half. This was a huge statement from the Mercury though

And to think this could have been uglier if the Mercury hadn’t taken their foot off the gas in the fourth. The starting five weren’t exactly top tier players, but they sure did take advantage of their time out there. Six players in double figures and they shot 44% from three. I tried to stay awake for this one, but sleep won out at halftime. Sometimes it’s just not your night and it definitely wasn’t Toronto’s.
