The Rangers get a MASSIVE WIN… for the Calgary Flames. The Rangers spent 50% of this game taking it to the Lightning and the other 50% cowering in a corner and praying nobody would find them. Somehow that worked. Katye sent shockwaves through the Lightning as he quickly scored 2 goals past Tampa’s inexperienced goaltender. Gabe Perrault made it 3-0 shortly after Katye’s 2nd goal. Tampa scored shortly after and a shift was triggered at that point. Almost like the Rangers remembered who they were and who the Lightning are. The Rangers proceeded to go into a shell. Without Shesterkin and Quick, they’ll instead had to rely on Dylan Garand, a goalie with exactly 2 NHL starts up to this point. It wasn’t pretty, but he did his job. Remained solid, made some great saves when he had to and didn’t get blown up when Tampa tried to win. I also think Tampa remembered their situation, their spot is locked up, including home ice advantage in round 1, so they took their foot off the gas and let NY win
