If this game is any indication, this is about to be a fantastic series. A rematch of the 2021 Stanley Cup Final. Two great, fast and skilled teams going against each other. Even better, our first taste of playoff overtime hockey! In another matchup that could’ve been the conference finals if not for the idiotic playoff system, this lived up to the billing. Neither team could hold on to any permanent control of this game, both teams had their chances and it felt like every moment was an important one. Couple all that with the fact that many of the figures from the 2021 Final are still on their respective teams and you get lots of animosity. All this made for a back-and-forth game defined by sweet passes and grit. Most importantly, this has become a defining game for the career of former #1 overall pick Slafkovsky. Hat trick in game 1. Can’t do much better than that. The overtime was short lived and kinda awkward, but everything that got us there was GREAT. Can’t wait for more!

What a game. This might have told us everything about how the series is going to go. First of all, Josh Anderson is the definition of angel-demon. He scored a goal early to put the Habs up early 1-0 then got 5 minutes and gave the Lightning 2 goals, scored by Hagel and Raddysh respectively. This would have tied it, but the Habs had a goal taken away from them in the 2nd, so the Lightning took the lead. However, the Habs would indeed score in the second period, with an insane Slafkovsky shot, but after the 2 Lightning goals. This would mean that they tied it going into the third period. Then, the Habs got a power play. And right away, Slafkovsky once again scored a screamer to put the Habs in front, 3-2. Wait, come back. We're not done. We're still going. Almost immediately after that, Dominic James put his second into the net and tied it for the Lightning. This sent it into overtime. Then, Slafkovsky completed the hattrick with the OT winner for the Habs.

Yessir. What a win for the Blue Blanc Rouge. This is really the year where Slafkovsky became an elite player. A hat trick in the first playoff game of the season. He just is a hell of a natural scorer. Carrier with a solid game, he is built for the playoffs. Always taking hits for the team and sacrificing himself. Anderson doing his job, once again, getting the other team out of their game. He would of had two goals, but one is still great. Dobes with a solid performance in the first especially, the Habs were getting played around with. This series is gonna be all about discipline. The most disciplined team will win.

The first overtime game in the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs has concluded. Lets get 20 more of these eh? Really solid game. Lighting are the most experienced playoff team in the playoffs. Canadiens arent as experienced but they both showed maturity in this one. This was playoff hockey in a nutshell close game not wouldnt get away from either team. Slafovsky with the hattrick and the game winning goal only a minute into OT! The tending wasnt great in this game but it made for a fun one. Lots of High sticks this game as well lol. I think with this win the Habs will take the series no way they lose in Montreal.
