You want to talk about contrasts? Going from Habs-Lightning to this game is a VIOLENT shift and it is so worth it! As a Flames fan, this gives me flashbacks to 2022 and game 1 against Edmonton in round 2. Back then, it was the Flames jumping on the Oilers early and taking a 3-0 lead. Same thing happened here, though it took 3 minutes back then and 13 minutes in this game. Just like back then, the opponent didn’t lie down. The Wild slowly crawled back into this game. Blankenburg tried to hold off the comeback, but Minnesota wouldn’t be denied. Marcus Foligno gave the Wild a 5-4 lead, only for Devon Toews to tie it up and make it 6-6 going into the 3rd. The flashbacks truly came in full force during the 3rd, because just like the 2022 Flames, Colorado used the 3rd to finally pull away and give this game an identical score. I’m sure the Avs are hoping they don’t repeat everything Calgary did after that. The Cale Makar-Quinn Hughes battle is going to be incredible television.
