what a team! first two periods they absolutely looked like the team that had more rest coming into this one. definitely backed off offensively in the 3rd but lyon was a brick wall. shoutout jordan greenway for a hell of a performance

Buffalo is just so much bigger and stronger than us. Some Montreal Players were getting pushed around so easily on the Habs. Carrier could not protect the puck for shit tonight and him with Matheson was atrocious. Caufield with a bit more space tonight because the Sabres are a little slower but it was still tough to get around. Dobes with a mid game but you can't blame him for the loss. Why are we giving them 3 on 1s and letting them decide what to do for 15 seconds. The space they had was crazy. I already hate Zach Benson and Greenway. Alex Lyon is pretty solid in net, didn't get to see him play much this year. This is gonna be a long series.

The Sabres looked incredible as they take game one against the Habs!

The Habs are in some serious trouble. This Sabres team is good, very good. They played “pond hockey” a hard, physical, brand of hockey where the defensive men are heavily involved in the offensive scheme. (Look at me being all smart)

Partially Watched

Lots of open ice this match. A penalty in the first 10 seconds and the Buffalo dictated the game from there. There is something to be said about the greater number of shots on goal. Lets not allow Don't to be screened in game 2.

Im so jumping on the sabres wagon, this team is so fun, I got to watch Benson play when he was on the “Winnipeg Ice” it’s nice to see him thrive, he’s going be a nightmare to play again for any team. Go sabres go

BUFFALOOOOOOO!!!!!! I'm just so happy to see this team win and it goes against my principal to cheer for an American team in the playoffs but it is impossible for me not to be elated for this Sabres team

A playoff matchup with 2 electric teams with 2 of the most passionate fan bases in the NHL, hard to be mad at that. This was a solid start to this series. The main problem was how much Buffalo outplayed Montreal in the first couple periods. The Habs eventually gained some ground in the 3rd as urgency clearly picked up for them while the Sabres knew they just had to hang on. Prior to that, Buffalo was getting more chances, the better chances and most importantly, they were converting their chances very frequently. Dobes could’ve played better, no doubt, but the goals weren’t his fault more often than not. Alex Lyon on the other hand shut the door in the final minutes of this game and helped the Sabres get a massive win. Not only their first 2nd round game, but their their first 2nd round win since 2007. Josh Doan was brilliant. Scrappy and always in the right spot to either disrupt Montreal or finish a play. Shane had to be proud. The Canadiens are goin to need more top line production

Watching the official highlights, I have no idea what happened in the third, but I know the Sabers won.

That was a tough loss for the Habs. I am rooting for them in this series and they got outplayed. Those goals weren’t Dobes’ fault but they scored 4 goals fast. Buffalo played really well and they are the real deal. Solid game.
