We finally made it! And who stands alone in the west? Who made it to the top once more after all that negativity? We can say it together, if you, the reader, would like. The answer is, the Vegas Golden Knights. You might know them for being superior and elite, but, who said this would happen? I did! Who stood up for them when everybody wanted to open their mouth? I did! Who doubled down on every statement that was made when it came to these boys? If I remember correctly.. that was me. I said in my take for game one of this series that the opinionated NHL as a whole downplays the legitimacy of this team. I was told when they go against the greatest in the league, they would fold like an omelette and..? It appears we’re eating backwards today. In my second take for the series I started gloating, but in my third one I had a sense of beauty fall upon me where I enjoyed the moment. Now? For this one, I got a statement, like always. Here it goes! Tonight, I’m going to party like it’s 2023.

The Vegas Golden Knights were established less than 10 years ago. They have now made it to their 3rd Stanley Cup. The best team in the NHL was just swept. The Pacific Division, all year, has been talked about as the worst division in hockey and here they are in the Stanley Cup Finals. Sports will never be predictable. And that's what makes them awesome.

Pathetic doesn't even begin to describe it. I want you, yes you, to go to a market. I want you to buy some sweet vodka, peach schnapps, orange juice and cranberry juice. Hell, buy a shot glass while you're at it. Now, go home and set down these ingredients. Fill a big glass with ice, then pour vodka and peach schnapps. Add orange juice and cranberry juice. Pretend there's a damn lemon garnish on it. What you have created is a drink known as sex-on-the-beach. (Lowbrow, I know) Now, pour this concoction into a shot glass, then drink it. Pour another into the glass, drink it again. You have now taken as many shots in a minute as the Avalanche took in 22 minutes. And I would say that taking two shots of any cheap wine would be better than watching a dead Colorado offense finally be put in the grave. Or actual sex on the beach. PATHETIC does not even begin to describe this Avalanche team. And look at my damn name! I'm a Kings fan!

Getting this out of the way first, Vegas earned it. I certainly thought Colorado had a Finals appearance in the palm of their hand. Instead, Vegas bullied them and won. For this game, Colorado felt like a dead team walking, even with MacKinnon returning. Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar even said so after game 3 when he described the Avs as completely demoralized. Pessimism was at an all-time high. They validated that fear by playing like crap. I couldn’t credit the assaulter, even if I wanted to, because Colorado had so few shots. Just 21 shots in a do-or-die game is pathetic. Not like they were getting good quality. On a more positive note, I feel like Mark Stone is getting ignored. He just came back from injury, just like both MacKinnon and Makar did, and he scored crucial goals in to help Vegas complete the sweep. This game is also salvaged by the fact that it is technically close. But that only made it so I didn’t consider putting it in the red, felt inevitable. Congrats Ras!

Well. That was unexpected. The Las Vegas Golden Knights just swept the Colorado Avalanche. Definitely not what we were expecting however the Avs did keep it relatively close in every game but they still got swept. Vegas is 1-1 in the Stanley Cup and now have made their 3rd in 9 years. What the hell is happening. I think it's safe to say this is the most successful expansion team in their first 10 years of existing.

John Tortorella and Carter Hart are going to the Stanley Cup Final. Is the city of Philadelphia cursed or something?

I really wish Vegas could stop winning playoff games. 3 Stanley Cup appearances in their first 9 seasons is insane. Congrats to them though. They outplayed (and got out some brooms on) the President’s trophy winner Avalanche to make it.

Well, Colorado choked like it was supposed to happen. President's trophy winners never end up winning the Stanley Cup. McKinnon and Makar were playing with injuries, you can't really blame them. Wedgewood struggled a bit during this series, can't blame Blackwood yesterday. Vegas just looks so dominant, I think they are winning the cup. What a hire at the end of the year with the signing of John Tortorella. Carter Hart playing crazy hockey, also a great signing. Marner proving all Leafs fans wrong going to the finals with his first year in Vegas. GO HABS GO
