More overtime, yay. More intense hockey, yay! Another game where I was on the edge of my seat, YAY. After a wild 1st period, the Habs tied it shortly into the 2nd and we proceeded to have an intense war of attrition for the next 40 minutes and change. Despite the final score, this game very much leaned in favour of Carolina. Montreal’s last shot on goal came with 10 minutes to go in the 3rd period. They didn’t have a shot on goal for 24 minutes of game time. Despite this disparity, it certainly didn’t feel lopsided while watching it live. Montreal still had plenty of opportunities, they just couldn’t convert, while Carolina had MANY chances and finally converted in overtime. The Bell Centre was rocking, but Carolina did their job and get a huge win to take a 2-1 series lead. It is the first time the Hurricanes have won 2 games in the conference finals since 2006. Coincidentally the last time they won the Cup and when their current head coach, Rod Brind'Amour, was the captain.

was a great battle back and forth. refs were absolutely blue balling us with some of these no calls (no too many men on the ice on lane hutson). canes are rolling in OT, winning all 5 instances. a note for some of the next teams, don’t go to OT with Carolina.

fun watch. carolina looked so much better than montreal. dobes absolutely kept them in that game though canes easily could have had a couple more in the first two periods.

Those damn hurricanes. Montreal’s shot blocking was absolutely fantastic. Huge props to them. I don’t really understand there “park the bus” type mentality of sit back and play defense and wait for Carolina to make one mistake. Because they don’t make mistakes often.

Despite the Hurricanes just absolutely dominating the game this was very entertaining. Down and back fast paced but good style of hockey. Canes playing their way and just couldnt get much to fall in because Jakob Dobes is doing his best Carey Price impression. Mightve been a goalie interference to end this one but Canes did deserve it after putting up almost 30 more sog than the Habs. Aho was the one who scored. What a guy. Canes 2-1 up in Montreal

Canes take the lead in the series in a thriller! Super fun back and forth with both teams trading blows. You can really tell the stylistic differences. Carolina is buttoned up, decisive, smart, physical, everything you expect from a playoff contender. The Canadiens are much more inconsistent, but hold some of the best scoring potential in the league. Absolute masterclass from Dobes, who has kept the Canadiens competitive despite constantly being outshot. Unfortunately Carolina completely shut down Montreal in OT (minus the breakaway potential game winner at the start). Awesome series.

Another intense game! Montreal needs to learn how to shoot the puck on net.
