Mr. Hurricanes

Nobody is more crucial to their team’s history than Rod Brind’Amour is to the Carolina Hurricanes in NHL history, maybe even all of sports. The Hartford Whalers became the Carolina Hurricanes in 1997. Since then, they have won 100 playoff games in their history (also the 8th most in the NHL since 1997). With this win, Rod Brind’Amour has been either a player or the head coach in 98 of those 100 wins. He also played a crucial role in each of Carolina’s Stanley Cup Final appearances. He played the most minutes of any forward on the 2002 team, was the captain in 2006 and is the head coach in 2026. If the Canes win the Cup, he will become what Lemieux is to Pittsburgh and Sakic is to Colorado, a god, if he isn’t already.
