There were fears that this would be a low scoring series, hopefully this game has alleviated those concerns. More importantly, the Stanley Cup Final is here! I would say finally, but it didn’t take us long to get here. Luckily, it was worth the wait and would’ve been worth it if the wait had been long. It started with a loud PING as Ehlers scored the 3rd fastest goal to start a Stanley Cup Final ever. Can’t think of a better way to start a Cup Final. Makes it even better when you remember the next 59 minutes and 35 seconds were GREAT hockey. Not a ton of shots on goal, but that didn’t mean this wasn’t an intense back and forth matchup. Carolina was carving through Vegas’s neutral zone coverage while Vegas was picking Carolina apart in the O-zone. Ultimately, Golden Misfit Shea Theodore’s legacy game was the deciding factor. Scored Vegas’s first goal and assisted both of Vegas’s 3rd period goals, including Hertl’s game winner. Carolina won’t lay down, this should be a great series.

Wow. Nikolaj Ehlers scored 25 SECONDS IN to make it 1-0 and then another to make it 2. But after those two Ehlers goals, the game just flipped. Shea Theodore, one of the original Golden Misfits scored, then 30 seconds into the 2nd period Barbashev tied it, and Karlsson, another original Knight scored the 3rd straight to make it 3-2 Vegas early in the 2nd period. This all happened in the first 25 minutes of hockey. I love how Vegas franchise is so young some of these guys have been there since day one. Carolina didn’t just lay down and die though. The best team in hockey fought back, killed off a penalty, and Staal tied it at 3. Of course, in the third period, it only took Howden 81 seconds to take the lead back. First career 3 assist game for McNabb comes in game 1 of the finals. But Carolina wasn’t done yet. Gostesbeirre (that’s my attempt at spelling it) tied it at 4. It kept going back and forth as Hertl made it 5-4 with 3 minutes left. Maybe the best hockey game I’ve ever watched.

Vegas takes game 1 in a barn burner which makes me wonder why? Why did the casual NHL fans (sharks fans) think this would be a bad series? Well here’s Why the canes went 12-1 through the three rounds and faced Ottawa, Philly, And Montreal. And let me tell ya the Habs sure there a good team but facing a defence like The Canes and for them being so young it was bound that the canes beat them. So what makes Vegas so different you may ask? well it’s the experience. Most of Vegas players have played deep in the playoffs and know what to do and stay calm. But the secret sauce is Torts. He being a veteran coach and with a cup under his belt knows just what to do when it gets tough and knows how to keep his boys calm and composed. This will be a great series the best since 2024 maybe

This game looked like it would be the Nikolaj Ehlers showing in which he had 2 goals to start it out. But man the Canes looked flat again in a game 1. Defense wasnt really doing it and Freddy Andersen was letting anything in. Lets see like last series if they can pick it up in game 2. I like how Im talking like they did bad. Letting 5 goals in is bad but they didnt do terrible just felt this is one they could've won.
