Venezia is one of the most hyped Serie B sides of this decade while Lecce looked like an impending car crash. The latter team won, but it was not for lack of trying from Venezia. They came out firing in the early parts of this game, getting a bunch of shots and building momentum on the attack. They kept firing until it looked like Venezia had scored the opener only for it to get called back. They kept up the pressure and Lecce was lucky to get to halftime without conceding. Considering Venezia’s hype and Lecce’s struggles, seemed like a slam dunk win for the promoted team with the most drip. Unfortunately, it appears they struggled to find their bullets in the second half because Lecce scored less than a minute in. A horrific start only exasperated when Tiago Gabriel gave Lecce an insurance goal in the 80th minute. That sucked all the juice out of Venezia and Lecce was able to coast to victory. Tough break, but Venezia remains super fun to watch and Lecce gets a super valuable victory.

This was a fun game, but this was an extremely heroic effort from the Lecce goaltender! Venezia had some amazing opportunities throughout this game that all met their match! His six saves included some truly spectacular stops! The Venezia goalie was pretty good as well, but Lecce got enough past him to take this game! Lecce scored their brace very late in this match, and that did a great job killing the last chances for Venezia! Those early stops for Lecce definitely did the heavy lifting as they take a fun one that could’ve been a lot more high scoring!
