i was 10 years old watching this game. i thought everything was lost when we went down 9 with two minutes to go.
then the run started.
this team refused to die. they played for each other, and did what they had done all year long - play hard, play defense, make open shots, and keep believing.
brandon rush will forever be my favorite player, and this will forever be my favorite game i’ve ever watched. i’ll never forget the feeling of jumping up and down, screaming that chalmers made the purest swish ever shot.

Mario’s Miracle!!! The sequence of events that led to Chalmer’s 3 with 2.1 ticks left was absolutely unhinged. Kansas was down 9 with 2 mins left. This Memphis squad was one of the swaggiest CBB backcourts of all time with D Rose and CDR but they combined for 4 missed FTs down the stretch that left the door open for Super Mario. Memphis was 38-2!! Kansas had the lumbering bigs in Cole Aldrich and Brady Morningstar Lmaoo there’s a name! Bill Self’s first ring. Insane game in the Alamodome. Rock Chalk!!
