The 30-point loss is Maryland’s worst in the history of Xfinity Center. I was also there for the second-biggest loss (27 vs. UCLA in 2022). Fourth loss by 30+ this season. Just so deflating. This roster is dreadful and I miss The Crab Five every day. Let’s fast forward to when next year’s top-five recruiting class comes in.

Purdue gets their mojo back with a dominant win. The Boilermakers beat down the Terrapins like they were Triple H laying the smack-down on Mankind in a Boiler Room match. It’d be easier for me to list the things Purdue didn’t do better than Maryland. Despite that fact, I will try to summarize why Maryland got smacked. The simplest reason is the dynamic guard pair of Loyer and Braden Smith. Loyer was absolutely on fire, shooting 70% from 3 and putting up 29 points. Smith kept other defenders on their toes and put up 19 points and 6 assists. Those 6 assists also helped Smith officially jump into top 10 all-time in D1 assists, he is now 9th all-time, tied with Aaron Miles and only 2 assists behind 8th. Those 6 assists were a small part of Purdue’s smooth offense that put up nearly 20 assists. That offense shot above 50% from the field while Maryland shot below 40% until garbage time saved their shooting percentage. Purdue dominated the glass which left the Terps completely helpless.
