Shoutout to Presbyterian Blue Hose for the most interesting team name I’ve ever seen so much so that I had to look up its origins: originated from the visible attribute of long blue socks/stockings worn by the teams in the early 1900s (and perhaps also a broader “blue” tradition). Over time “stockings” → “hose” in common use; the student body formalised the moniker in the 1950s. Whaddya know!
