A top 25 matchup that turned into an offensive explosion. Less than 200 games in all of NCAA hoops history involve 2 teams scoring at least 115 points, this game is one of them and it was super fun to watch. Both offenses were cooking with gas (I’m intentionally ignoring the gross free throw disparity). Darius Acuff became just the 4th Arkansas player ever to put up a 40-point night and he put up the 2nd most points in a game ever for an Arkansas player. On the other side, Labaron Philon put up just the 12th 35-point game in Alabama’s history. After nearly an hour of gam time, it was ironically Philon’s pass that helped seal it and Mallette’s 3-pointer was the dagger. Despite that and Arkansas losing 4 players due to fouls, they nearly sent this game to a 3rd overtime. Acuff just barely missing a game tying layup and Ewin had a wide open put back but he missed the dunk and Bama escapes with a win. To make things even better, this is the 2nd time they have overcome a 14-point deficit.

Here it is folks may not be the only one but MY first 10 of the college basketball season. This is a perfect game. Two ranked teams fighting to show they are top dogs in their conference. Arkansas gets out to a big lead early but in the second Bama couldnt miss a shot and it was stellar from there. Back and forth until we head to overtime. Arkansas already being in foul trouble gets one foul out. This leads to 4 total foul outs! They had to have two players with a combined 35 minutes of court time in the game. There is so many words I can put here. This was a game of class, elegance, and beauty. If this game was a person I would marry it. What a win for Bama and good heart from the Arkansas side as well. Last note shout out Philon and Acuff for both having extraordinary games. Acuff is gonna be a creature in the NBA despite what all the blog boys say.

this could be game of the year. this game had everything you could want from a basketball game. two even teams, double overtime, late drama, a crazy performance from acuff, and a comeback from alabama in the 2nd half that almost seems forgotten now. i can not believe what i just watched.

Acuff dropped 49 but he needed that last bucket! If the 2nd OT didn’t drag out and become a challenge / replay saga this would’ve been closer to a 9.5 but it just kills my patience when they chop up every single possession over something that doesn’t need a replay.
